Highlanders Sign Veteran Tight End Rob Prior to Bolster 2026 Roster

DUNEDIN, FL — The Dunedin Highlanders are proud to announce the signing of veteran tight end Rob Prior for the 2026 season, as part of the team’s ongoing effort to strengthen its offensive presence and add experience to the roster.

“I've made it a priority to bring in a true tight end who not only understands the position but brings leadership and tenacity to the field,” said Chris Housholder, General Manager of the Highlanders. “Rob Prior fits that mold perfectly, and we’re excited to welcome him to the Highlanders family.”

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Prior brings a deep resume of experience and versatility. He was a standout tight end at Springfield High School in Toledo, Ohio, earning First Team All-League honors before playing collegiately at the University of Toledo. Following his time in college, Prior spent four seasons in semi-professional football, making significant contributions with the Toledo Thunder and the Flag City Phantoms.

He then elevated his game to the professional ranks with two seasons in the National Arena League (NAL), playing for the Fayetteville Mustangs until the team’s closure. Though previously committed to join the Orlando Predators, timing conflicts delayed that opportunity.

“Rob is a competitor and a professional,” added Housholder. “His strong work ethic and impressive football resume made this an easy decision for us. With his move to Clearwater later this year, everything aligned at the right time.”

Prior, who will join the Highlanders ahead of preseason training, shared his enthusiasm for the new opportunity:

“I appreciate this opportunity with the Highlanders. Back in high school, they called me ‘Hands for Days’—and I still take a lot of pride in never dropping the ball. My senior year, I went 18 for 18 in receptions, and my best 40 time is a 4.7. That said, blocking always comes first. I’ve also played defensive tackle and defensive end as secondary positions, so I’m ready to contribute in any way I can. I’m excited to get down there and get to work with the team, and do everything I can to help bring a championship to Dunedin.”

Welcome to Dunedin!
