Debut of Clan Kelpies

DUNEDIN, FL, USA - The Dunedin Highlanders - Clan Kelpies debut tonight in Dunedin in 2025 Summer League Girls Flag Football play.

Clan Kelpies is led by the 2025 PCAC Flag Football Coach of the Year Gary Kifer. "To get to where we want to be, we have to play in competitive games and get even better. I challenge our girls to commit to that process and continue to improve", Kifer said.

The team includes some standout Dunedin players like quarterback Erionna "Big Dawg" Henry and Emmorie "Missle Lock" Barnes. The team is also expected to feature Marley "Mighty Mouse" Harvey and team leader Abby Hooper.

Why Clan Kelpies? In Scottish folklore, Kelpies are mythical shape-shifting water spirits. The stories of Kelpies are dark and mysterious. "These girls are Dunedin Highlanders to their core, but we wanted them to also have their own identity", said Steve Korossy, Chief of The Highlanders Clan. "Coach Kifer has long demonstrated his coaching excellence, and he has most recently dramatically turned around the girls flag football program at Dunedin High School. He is the coach we want to lead Clan Kelpies", Korossy said.
